It's Ryder Cup time again which can mean only one thing ... ok, two things - mind-numbing boredom and the EU logo everywhere.
But why does the Europe Ryder Cup team use the EU logo when it's the Europe team, not the EU team? The golfers in the Europe team this year are: 4 Englishmen, 1 Scotsman, 2 Northern Irishmen, a Swede, 2 Italians, an Irishman, a Spaniard and a German. That's not an EU team.
I've looked - unsuccessfully - for any indication that the EU pays for the Ryder Cup Europe team and the Ryder Cup website makes no reference to the EU.
This appears to be yet another example of the deliberate conflation of the EU and Europe.
Edit:
Apparently I wrote about this 2 years ago but I forgot!
