Labour councillor prosecuted for firearms offence

A Labour councillor in Leicester has been fined £2,600 for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Former Lord Mayor of Leicester, Cllr Robert Wann, disturbed two suspected wood thieves in his pub car park whilst carrying the shotgun in a display case. He reported the matter to the police who charged him with possession of an unlicensed shotgun. The gun had been disabled by removing the firing pins but non-permanent decommissioning still requires a licence.

Cllr Wann was fined £2,600 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £120 victim surcharge although it's not clear who the victim is in this case.

On the one hand I am laughing because it was New Labour that brought in all this nonsense in the first place. On the other hand what a pathetic country with moronic rules. I remember when common sense was much more common.

Steve UKIP must show that there a concerted attack by the immigrationist parties to discredit UKIP in the media. At the moment the reporting is very one sided. UKIP must respond had highlight problems in the three mass immigrationist parties.

Agree totally Achilles. It seems like that old film where Clint has to get a witness to the courtroom in a bus to testify whilst the whole corrupt local establishment is hosing bullets at them from all angles! The sheer volume of anti-UKIP spin is making me dizzy. Just wait till after the results and see how many politicians will be saying "of course I have agreed with them on this issue all along" etc.
